The Coudersport Area School District distributed a letter Tuesday notifying families that a confirmed case of coronavirus has been reported. The student attends Coudersport Area Junior/Senior High School, according to the letter.
Officials report that they worked with the state Department of Health Tuesday to determine the best course of action. Families were notified by Tuesday evening if their student had been in close proximity to the individual who had tested positive for COVID-19. For those who were contacted, their student or students met requirements outlined by the Department of Health, which include being within six feet of the individual for 15 minutes or more, and will be required to quarantine for 14 days.
Families who were not contacted Tuesday evening will not need to quarantine.
The letter also let families know the district will continue to monitor the situation and will continue to focus on the “health, safety and happiness of students and staff.” Collaboration with the state health department will continue in order to mitigate any potential risk to students and staff.
Families with concerns are encouraged to contact Superintendent Drew Kyle by calling 814-274-9480.
