HARRISBURG — The Pennsylvania Department of Health on Tuesday confirmed that there were 2,751 additional positive cases of COVID-19, bringing the statewide total to 198,446.
Daily increases are comparable with what was seen in April 2020, and Tuesday’s increase is the largest daily increase to date, the health department noted.
Elk County had five additional cases for a total of 160; 129 confirmed and 31 probable, with 3,105 negative tests.
McKean County had 3 more cases for a total of 132; 101 confirmed and 31 probable with 5,290 negative tests.
Potter County had one additional case for a total of 50; 46 confirmed and 4 probable with 1,379 negative tests.
And Cameron County had its first additional case since August, for a total of 9, 8 of which are confirmed and 1 is probable. There have been 523 negative tests.
In Elk County, the majority of cases are in the following municipalities: St. Marys, 52 confirmed and 9 probable cases; Johnsonburg, 30 confirmed, 8 probable; Ridgway, 29 confirmed, 9 probable; and Weedville, 10 confirmed.
In McKean County, Bradford had one additional case for a total of 37 confirmed and 13 probable. Kane had 3 additional cases for 23 confirmed and 1 to 4 probable. There was one less case in Eldred, which was listed at 8 confirmed instead of 9, according to the health department.
The number of tests administered within the last 7 days between Oct. 20 and 26 is 245,029 with 12,380 positive cases. There were 34,946 test results reported to the department through 10 p.m., Oct. 26.
There are 8,696 total deaths attributed to COVID-19, an increase of 23 new deaths reported. Mask-wearing is required in all businesses and whenever leaving home. Consistent mask-wearing is critical to preventing the spread of COVID-19.
There are 2,699 individuals who have a positive viral antigen test and are considered probable cases and 647 individuals who have a positive serology test and either COVID-19 symptoms or a high-risk exposure.
There are 2,254,523 individuals who have tested negative to date.
