HARRISBURG — The Pennsylvania Department of Health on Monday confirmed there were 1,407 new cases, in addition to 1,666 new cases reported Sunday, for a two-day total of 3,073 additional positive cases of COVID-19, bringing the statewide total to 195,695.
Daily increases are now comparable with what was seen in April 2020, except that rural areas are seeing double-digit increases now, when the virus wasn’t prevalent in rural areas before late summer.
With Monday’s reporting, Elk County saw an increase of 12 cases for a total of 155, 124 of which were confirmed, and 31 of which were probable. Looking at the health department’s numbers, the only obvious increase was in Johnsonburg, with 29 confirmed cases and 8 probable cases. The other cases may be in municipalities with fewer than 4 confirmed tests.
In McKean County, the case count rose by 10 to 129, with 98 confirmed cases and 31 probable cases.
In Bradford, there was an increase of 6 cases for 36 confirmed cases and 13 probable. Kane saw one additional case for a total of 20 confirmed and 1 to 4 probable. Eldred saw an increase of one additional confirmed case, for a total of 9 confirmed and 1 to 4 probable.
There are 3 municipalities in McKean County where the health department hasn’t reported any positive tests: Ludlow, Rixford and Derrick City.
Potter County saw an increase of one case for a total case count of 49. Of that, 45 are confirmed cases and 4 are probable.
Cameron County remains unchanged with 8 positive cases.
The number of tests administered within the last 7 days between Oct. 19 and 25 is 241,113 with 10,410 positive cases. There were 34,763 test results reported to the department through 10 p.m., Oct. 24 and 26,683 test results reported to the department through 10 p.m., Oct. 25.
There were 12 new deaths reported Sunday, and 7 new deaths reported for Monday for a total of 8,673 deaths attributed to COVID-19.
Mask-wearing is required in all businesses and whenever leaving home. Consistent mask-wearing is critical to preventing the spread of COVID-19.
There are 2,478 individuals who have a positive viral antigen test and are considered probable cases and 647 individuals who have a positive serology test and either COVID-19 symptoms or a high-risk exposure.
There are 2,241,430 individuals who have tested negative to date.
