Saturday in Port Allegany, the McKean County Democratic Party is holding a Get Out the Vote Rally. The event will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the parking lot of Port Allegany library, 201 E. Maple St.
“For those leaning toward voting for the Democratic ticket, they need to know they are not alone. (Also,) their vote does count,” said Party Secretary Harriet Nevil.
This will be a drive-in event. Volunteers will be on hand with campaign literature for the Biden-Harris campaign, Margie Brown, who is running for state Senate from the 25th District; Josh Shapiro, seeking re-election as attorney general; Nina Ahmad, auditor general; and Joe Torsella, treasurer. Yard signs, posters, and literature on all statewide candidates will be available free of charge.
Attendees are invited to enjoy refreshments in the spirit of fall, namely cider and donuts.
“It’s kind of fun because a lot of our volunteers come out and talk to people that are walking by, some people will drive in. Even people who are Republican are welcome. We talk about issues, and it’s been my experience that everybody is very friendly,” Neville stated. “We are really grateful for businesses that let us use their parking lots. It’s been hard this year, with the COVID virus, we can’t have dinners and dances and things like that. The drive-through seems to be working well for us.”
The event is the third rally sponsored by the Democrats, with previous events held in Bradford and Kane.
