The Bradford Area Public Library is hosting Rock-tober, a fun event in conjunction with Tales from the Shadows, which began Oct. 9.
Tales from the Shadows is a virtual program, featuring local author William Robertson, author of several horror titles. Tales from the Shadows: Part I can be viewed via the library’s website (under the Virtual Programs link) or the library’s Facebook page (under the videos link). In this program, Robertson reads some haunting tales that definitely include a specter or two and he also shares the inspiration for many of his spooky tales.
The library is sponsoring ROCK-tober as a fun activity for patrons of all ages to celebrate the lead-up to Halloween. The rock painting contest is open to all ages; participants are asked to paint Halloween-themed rocks and place their First initial, Last name and age on the back of their creation.
The rocks will be displayed in the library throughout the month of October and Robertson will choose the winners. The selected adult contestant will be awarded an autographed copy of Robertson’s recently released book, Ghosts Revisited, whereas the selected teen and youth winners will receive an age appropriate Halloween-themed book!
The next installment of Tales from the Shadows will be pre-recorded and posted to our Facebook page and website at 8 p.m. Oct. 23. This program is not intended for our young patrons.
The library is also continuing to host The Test Kitchen, a biweekly program which highlights a recipe, shows the preparation and provides a rating for the dish. The next installment will be released at 10 a.m. Oct. 24 on the Library’s Facebook page.
The recipe is Pork Tenderloin, stuffed with sundried tomato, mozzarella and spinach. Interested patrons can download the recipe from the library’s website and make the dish alongside Chef Rob.
The library has linked all past virtual programs to the library’s website so everyone can enjoy. Since Sept. 14, the library has been open to patrons Monday through Saturday, no appointment needed. Patrons can once again browse the stacks, use the public computers, and partake of several business services, as well as obtain a library card.
All individuals are required to wear a nose- and mouth-covering mask and practice social distancing. Patrons will be encouraged to limit their time in the building. Curbside pickup is still available for high-risk individuals and those unable to wear a mask.
