New charges will be filed against a man with active warrants who led police on a chase Sunday afternoon, Bradford City Police announced.
According to police, at 1:06 p.m. Sunday, city police tried to stop and apprehend Darryl M. Sherlock at the Chestnut Street Uni-Mart, based on information they received.
“Sherlock was wanted for felony absconding from PA State Parole and for felony flight to avoid apprehension from our department,” police stated.
When officers tried to stop him, he fled in a vehicle. Officers pursued Sherlock, who was traveling in a vehicle that was running on only three wheels due to having a flat tire.
Officers followed him outside of Bradford along Route 346 West — West Washington Street and continued until about two miles past the Willow Bay entrance. There, law enforcement from New York state were waiting and helped apprehend Sherlock.
The chase ended safely, police said.
Sherlock was committed to jail in New York and is being held on the multiple warrants for his arrest, according to Bradford City police.
Court records indicate that Sherlock, 34, of Bradford, has a case pending in Bradford City for charges of possession of drug paraphernalia and summary traffic violations stemming from an alleged incident on July 10. Also, in 2017, he was sentenced to state prison for 18 months to six years after pleading guilty in a previous flight to avoid apprehension case and a DUI-controlled substance case.
