HARRISBURG — The Pennsylvania Department of Health indicated Wednesday that there were 1,276 additional positive cases of COVID-19, bringing the statewide total to 175,922.

There were increases in both Elk and McKean counties with Wednesday’s reporting period. According to the health department, Elk County’s case count rose to 91, an increase of 3 cases. There have been 2,728 negative tests.

St. Marys has had 23 confirmed cases and 7 probable cases. Ridgway has had 16 confirmed and 10 probable cases. Weedville has had 9 confirmed cases, as does Johnsonburg, which also has 1 to 4 probable cases. Wilcox has had 5 confirmed and 1 to 4 probable cases. Sigel has had 1 to 4 confirmed and 1 to 4 probable cases. Kersey, Brockport and Benezette have had 1 to 4 confirmed cases.

McKean County’s case count rose to 80, up one case from a day earlier. There have been 4,787 negative tests.

Bradford has 20 confirmed cases and 7 probable cases. Kane has had 16 confirmed cases and 1 to 4 probable cases. Mount Jewett and Smethport each have had 6 confirmed cases. Eldred has had 6 confirmed cases and 1 to 4 probable cases.

Lewis Run, Rew and Gifford have had 1 to 4 confirmed cases. Port Allegany and Duke Center have had 1 to 4 confirmed and 1 to 4 probable cases.

The numbers for Potter and Cameron counties have remained steady, at 37 and 8 cases, respectively. However, Gov. Tom Wolf’s office has said Potter County is a “county to watch,” with 6.3 percent of those tested in a seven-day period showing positive results.

So far, the number of COVID-19 related deaths locally has been 2 in Elk County, 2 in McKean County and one in Potter County. Cameron County is the only one remaining in the state that has not had a COVID-19 related death.

The number of tests administered within the last 7 days between Oct. 7 and 13 is 239,891 with 9,403 positive cases. There were 29,347 test results reported to the department through 10 p.m., Oct. 13.

There are 8,411 total deaths attributed to COVID-19, an increase of 27 new deaths reported. Mask-wearing is required in all businesses and whenever leaving home. Consistent mask-wearing is critical to preventing the spread of COVID-19.

There are 1,395 cases who have a positive viral antigen test and are considered probable cases and 646 patients who have a positive serology test and either COVID-19 symptoms or a high-risk exposure.
