LETTER: Sometimes we get a letter that lands near to our hearts, and has us wanting to share it with our RTS readers.
This letter from Linda Lamborn of Bradford is one of those.
“With all the pandemic, horrific storms and fires and politics in the air, it is refreshing to remember how blessed we are to live in Northwestern Pennsylvania, yes, even in Bradford.
“I am not a native Bradfordian, but have called it my home for 40 years. Maybe I can’t recall its heydays of the early years, but I can appreciate its timeless architecture, rolling forested hills and its hometown feel we still have.
“Many old businesses have survived and newer and new ones arrive to add to the ambience.
“The Marilyn Horne Museum and gift shop offer some fine culture (free) and you will find some great activities on the Veterans Square. You can enjoy the many exciting holiday happenings on Main Street.
“The new look of downtown is awesome with its newly topped Main Street including fancy crosswalks, new sidewalks, potted flowers and military banners.
“A shout-out of thanks to the Office of Economic and Community Development, headed by Sara Andrews, who procured the grant and our council who approved these changes. And to the VFW who sponsored the military banners. Also we are fortunate to have great firemen, police and city workers.
“So I say take a stroll down Main Street and see what’s there to enjoy, a place where ‘Hate has no home here.’”
Continuing on her theme, we’ve had changing leaves and beautiful skies and sunsets. The trails in the area are unmatched. We have quaint and lovely shops and restaurants, locally owned and operated, offering everything from a quick bite to fine dining.
We have the Allegheny National Forest Visitors Bureau offering us guides to tour wineries and breweries, or routes where wildlife is plentiful.
Linda, we have to admit, we are guilty of taking the beauty around us for granted. And we thank you for taking the time to remind us to see what’s right in front of us.
