COUDERSPORT — Coudersport jumped out to a two-goal lead early in the second half, but Bradford managed to rally back late for a 3-2 win over the hosting Falcons.
Coudy (4-4-1) initially struck first at the 22-minute mark of the first half on a marker from Christian Furman. Then, about 15 minutes into the second half, Nash Delp scored on a penalty kick to extend the Falcon lead to 2-0.
“Coudersport was very aggressive tonight,” Bradford coach Wes Lohrman said. “They were beating us to most of the 50/50 balls, and we had too many gaps behind midfield and in front of the defensive line. It created space for them to get chances.”
However, the Owls (10-0) took control from there. With 15 minutes left to play, Gavin McGee scored from about 30 yards out to draw Bradford to within 2-1. He was assisted by Andrew Kane.
“I said at the half that we can’t rest on the long shots because of (Coudersport goalkeeper) Rosalyn Page’s job in goal,” Lohrman said. “She was really stopping us. We had several (long shots) and she collected every one. But sure enough, Gavin showed me I was wrong, but that’s OK. That’s what players are supposed to do.”
He jokingly added, “Maybe it was reverse psychology.”
About five minutes later, Bradford advanced the ball back into the box, where the Falcons had trouble clearing. Mitchell Strauss managed to sneak in and put the score away to tie things up on assists by Andy Mangold and Jon Komidar.
Then, with five minutes to go in the game, Jake Franz scored on a free kick from 25 yards away.
“He had a beautiful shot in the upper right corner,” Lohrman said. “And then we just kind of compacted from there to see the game out.”
Zach Williams made nine saves in goal for Bradford. Coudersport’s Rosalyn Page made 20, according to statistics from the Falcons.
Port Allegany 3, Kane 2
KANE — Port Allegany overcame an early two-goal deficit to pick up its second win of the year, a 3-2 decision over Kane in a thriller.
Josh Greville and John Feikls had the early markers for the Wolves (4-5), which jumped out to a 2-0 lead within the game’s first 15 minutes.
From there, though, the Gators (2-6-1) rallied. Within about 15 minutes left in the first half, Hunter Whitney scored to draw Port to within 2-1. Then, about seven minutes later, Kaleb Green scored to tie things up going into halftime.
The teams battled back-and-forth throughout the second half until Aidan Emerick put home the game-winning goal for Port with 9:50 to play.
Gator goalkeeper Ty Guilds made 13 saves in the win. Kane’s Owen Hillard had three.
Port has now won or tied in three of its last four games.
“The one thing I’ll give my players is all year, they’ve been one of the hardest working groups of young men I’ve ever coached,” Port A coach Aaron Clark said. “What they lack in talent, they make up for in hard work. It was very gratifying to see their hard work rewarded tonight.”
