A Bradford man accused of trespassing and possession of drug paraphernalia was sentenced to jail time Thursday in McKean County Court.
Shawn M. Mott, 29, of Bradford, was sentenced to 47 days to 18 months in McKean County Jail with credit for 47 days of time served for charges in three cases. According to court records, on Sept. 11 Mott pleaded guilty in one case to a charge of criminal trespass, and in two cases to charges of possession of drug paraphernalia.
Court records filed at the time of Mott’s arrest alleged that on May 14, he broke into an apartment because he was under the influence of methamphetamine and believed his girlfriend was being held at gunpoint inside the apartment. Records also alleged that he possessed a used syringe on Feb. 21 and a baggie with drug residue on April 2.
Also in court, Justin A. Simmer, 40, of Erie, pleaded guilty to charges of flight to avoid apprehension and possession of a controlled substance. According to District Attorney Stephanie Vettenburg-Shaffer, on July 3, Simmer, who was on supervision in Erie for a felony theft and misdemeanor drug possession, moved throughout the commonwealth to avoid apprehension. Also, Simmer possessed methamphetamine, she said. Simmer will be sentenced Oct. 22.
Justin M. Gordon, 33, of Port Allegany, pleaded no contest to a charge of simple assault. Assistant District Attorney Bridget Murphy said that on March 13, Gordon tried to put his wife in fear of serious bodily injury by putting his arm to her face as she was lying on the couch. He will be sentenced Oct. 22.
Tasha L. Buterbaugh, 30, of Bradford, pleaded guilty to a charge of false reports-reported offense did not occur. On March 23, 2019, Buterbaugh reported to law enforcement that an individual nearly hit her and her children when they were crossing the street, which was false, explained Murphy. Buterbaugh will be sentenced Oct. 22.
The following people were accepted into the Accelerated Rehabilitative Disposition program: Matthew J. Maybury, 34, of Mount Jewett, for DUI-alcohol and controlled substance and possession of a small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia; Ian H. Morse, 20, of Pittsfield, for DUI-controlled substance; Dean P. Cristiano, 52, of Bethel Park, and Craig A. Rhodes, 54, of Bradford, both for DUI-alcohol; and Kelcie R. Moffett, 18, of Bradford, for possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia.
