A Bradford man is facing assault charges after he allegedly assaulted a woman early Wednesday morning.
Robert W. W. Gault, 33, of 156 High St., was arraigned Wednesday before District Judge Dominic Cercone on charges of strangulation, a second-degree felony; simple assault, a second-degree misdemeanor; and summary harassment.
According to court records, on Wednesday, a woman reported to Bradford City Police that between 12:30 and 1 a.m. that day Gault assaulted her.
She told police that he choked her, which impeded her breathing, and punched her several times, causing swelling and bleeding to her lip. He also allegedly shoved her against a wall, slammed her head against a window and ripped a shirt she was wearing off her body, causing abrasions to her neck and tearing the shirt, court records stated.
The complaint stated that when the woman reported the assault, the officer saw dried blood on her lips, minor swelling to her lower lip and abrasions on her neck.
Gault is free on $10,000 unsecured bail. A preliminary hearing is set for Oct. 7.
