A Ulysses man is in Potter County Jail after he allegedly fled from state police officers who went to pick him up on a warrant.
Andrew Wenrich, 25, is facing a charge of flight to avoid apprehension/trial/punishment, a second-degree misdemeanor, for an alleged offense on Sept. 3.
According to Coudersport-based state police, at 4:39 p.m. Sept. 3, the barracks received a tip on a possible location of Wenrich. He was wanted on a warrant, police said.
When police arrived at the location — the area of North Fork Road and Saunders Road in Harrison Township — officers saw Wenrich under his vehicle. He got out from under the vehicle and fled on foot, according to police.
Police apprehended Wenrich after a short foot pursuit, they reported.
Court records indicate that a bench warrant was requested for Wenrich on Jan. 17 out of Potter County Court for another pending case.
In the other pending case, Wenrich is facing two counts of receiving stolen property, a second-degree felony and a second-degree misdemeanor. A court appearance is scheduled in that case for Oct. 7, though court records do not indicate the nature of the appearance.
In the new case, Wenrich was committed to Potter County Jail in lieu of $5,000 bail, and a preliminary hearing is scheduled for Oct. 29 before District Judge Christopher Kalacinski.
