HELP THE LIBRARY: There are two ways to help your local library without spending a penny. First, Tuesday was National Voter Registration Day, and the American Library Association celebrated along with hundreds of libraries across the country. They ask that you take a minute to update your voter registration by contacting your local election office or using the tools at Vote.org.
Even if you have registered in the past, it’s a good idea to double check. If your address or name has changed, you may need to update your registration. Voter registration deadlines vary by state, and locally, the deadline to register is Oct. 19.
The future of libraries is decided at the ballot box in every election. Register today to make sure you’re ready to vote.
Another way to help libraries is to complete the 2020 Census. The Census will determine how more than a billion dollars in library funding will be allocated to our states and communities over the next decade. And not just libraries — everything from schools and Head Start to healthcare and emergency relief depends on a complete and inclusive Census count.
If we’re not counted, our communities won’t get their fair share. But one in three U.S. households has not filled out the Census form — and the deadline is the end of this month!
It only takes 10 minutes to fill out your Census — and it will support your library for the next 10 years. The deadline is Sept. 30.

WORKERS PREFER HOME: ThisIsWhyImBroke.com, a website which offers unique gifts, surveyed 3,000 workers and discovered that, on average since working from home, Pennsylvanians have each spent a not-inconsiderate $233, to make sure they had the proper office equipment to carry out their jobs (compared to a national average of $181).
Nearly two-thirds of home-workers say they prefer the new work location, compared to their usual office.
