Children love reading and telling stories. Now, they can write a story for the Bradford Area Public Library.
“Let’s Write A Story” is the brainchild of the library’s youth programming coordinator, Judy Carr. This program is the perfect vehicle to spark a child’s imagination and will provide a platform for them to assist in the writing of a brand-new, unique children’s story.
Beginning Sept. 28, the library will post four pictures featuring animals from Michael Morton’s ‘Sun-Dance-Kids Farm’ to the library’s Facebook page. Children will be asked to compose sentences for each picture. Are the animals scheming? Is Mister Rooster planning something with the turtles?
The children can run with their imagination and post their sentences to the comments-section with each Facebook post.
The library will post four pictures for ten days. During this time, library director Lacey Love will select sentences from the children’s comments. In doing so, Love will weave a new, never before told story, full of mystery and intrigue, all thanks to our local young authors.
The story will be revealed to the public during a special virtual story time on Zoom when Miss Judy reads it. The Zoom link/password will be shared with all families who register their children. The finished story will also appear on the library’s Facebook page and website.
