CLARENDON — A concert by local band Simple Gifts at Chapman State Park has been rescheduled for Oct. 10.
The concert will be held from 3 to 4:30 p.m. Oct. 10 in the park’s amphitheater. It is free to attend.
The show will be followed by a Spoons Workshop from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. in the amphitheater. The workshop is free, too, but attendees must register and bring two teaspoons.
Simple Gifts comprises Karen Hirshon and Linda Littleton, who play a variety of ethnic folk music including Irish jigs, down-home American reels, hard-driving Klezmer freilachs, haunting Gypsy melodies and exotic Balkan dance tunes.
For the workshop, Simple Gifts will teach participants of all ages to play spoons following the Appalachian tradition where two teaspoons are held in one hand and played as a percussion instrument.
The activity is recommended for ages 8 to adult.
To register for the workshop, contact Jen Moore at 814-723-0259 or jennmoore@pa.gov. Attendance is limited to 25.
Participants are required to wear masks for all programs and events.
In case of rain, both events will take place in Pavilion #4.
Attendees are invited to take photos but no videos without written permission from the artists. The musicians will be available during intermission and after the concert for visiting and album signing. Contact them at 814-238-8048, linda@simplegiftsmusic.com or www.simplegiftsmusic.com.
