SMETHPORT (EC) — Smethport Assistant Fire Chief Dana Spittler said fire was shooting out a window of RJ Lawncare and Greenhouse at East Water and Mechanic streets when the local department arrived on the scene at approximately at approximately 11:30 a.m. Friday.
The building also housed RJ Notary Service.
“Our guys did a fantastic job in knocking down the fire,” Spittler told The Era.
Units and firefighters from Norwich Township Volunteer Fire Department and Port Allegany’s Star Hose Company also were on scene. Meanwhile, Eldred Township Volunteer Fire Department remained on standby at the Smethport fire hall.
Smethport’s department was in service for almost three hours.
No injuries were reported. A state police fire marshal was on the scene Friday afternoon.
