Port Allegany 2, Elk Catholic 1
ST. MARYS — Port Allegany edged out Elk County Catholic for its first win of the season Thursday, 2-1.
Bree Garzel and Evin Stauffer accounted for the Lady Gators’ two goals with Stauffer scoring a goal in the first half that was assisted by Gracie Archer and Garzel knocking in a penalty kick during the second half. Brielle Budd tallied six saves for Port Allegany (1-0-1) in the win.
Gina Carnovale scored Elk Catholic’s lone goal during the contest and Allison Geci made 11 saves.
St. Marys 7, Kane 2
KANE — St. Marys left Kane with a dominant 7-2 win over the Lady Wolves on Thursday.
The Lady Dutch put together a 5-1 halftime lead. Therese Guido scored the first goal of the game with an assist from Carlee Ginther 16 minutes into the game. Seven minutes later, Gianna Surra scored and another goal came three minutes later when Abby Erich scored off of a header from a corner kick from Surra. With four minutes left in the period, Kane’s Sadie Walter scored off of a breakaway. Izzy Catalone and Ginther each added a goal for St. Marys to finish off the first half.
In the second half, Jayna Sette and Emily Mahoney made the score 7-1 with goals of their own and Walter would score her second goal of the game for Kane.
Olivia Eckels and Anna Lundin combined for 11 saves for the Lady Dutch and Kane’s Bailey Hummel made seven saves.
