SMETHPORT — The McKean County Commissioners opened bids for the courthouse re-roofing project at a special meeting Tuesday.
The companies and their base bids followed by quotes for three alternate roofing materials were as follows:
David Means & Associates: $317,276 — $65,667 — $239,927
Houck Services, Inc.: $359,600 — $57,900 — $187,300 — $199,827
J. M. Young & Sons: $4417,350 — $69,900 — $148,860 — $1
S & N Industries: $727,000 — $18,700 — $169,300 — $131,900.
Commissioners are slated to award the contract at their regularly scheduled meeting at 10 a.m., Tuesday.
Commissioner Chairman Thomas Kreiner said, “We hope we can get the front roof over the courtroom covered before winter and do the back section next spring.”
In other matters, commissioners accepted with regret the resignation of Kathy Roche from the board of directors of Alcohol and Drug Abuse Services Inc., effective Aug. 31 and appointed Judy LeRoy to begin her term immediately.
Kreiner announced that Evan Rodriguez has been hired as a dispatcher at the 9-11 Center, effective Sept. 21.
Keating Township’s county aid application was approved. This $9,077.47 will be encumbered for future projects.
Commissioners also renewed the contract for the Information Technology Department with Link Computer Corp. for VMWARE for one year at a cost of $1,887.
