SMETHPORT — A Mount Jewett man has pleaded guilty to allegations that he sought sexual images from two children over social media.
Dustin T. Sherwood, 25, entered the plea Thursday in McKean County Court to two counts of sexual abuse of children and one count each of unlawful contact with a minor and obscene and other sexual materials and performances.
According to District Attorney Stephanie Vettenburg-Shaffer, between Jan. 30 and Jan. 31, Sherwood created a fake Facebook account and began communicating with a 13-year-old girl and her 8-year-old female friend. He asked for “naughty pictures” and directed them to touch each other’s genitals. Also, he sent multiple pictures of male genitalia.
Later in the conference, Shaffer told President Judge John Pavlock that Sherwood claimed his actions were his way of teaching “internet safety.”
Sherwood will undergo a sexually violent predator evaluation and be sentenced Dec. 10.
He remains incarcerated in McKean County Jail.
