PORT ALLEGANY — The S.W. Smith Memorial Public Library has announced additional operating hours and provided an update on what services are currently available.
New operating hours are 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday, Wednesday and Friday; and 12:30 to 6:30 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday.
The Library To-Go Window service is still available. Patrons may call or email the library with their library materials requests, or reserve library materials using the Evolve online library catalog, and then pick up their requests at the Library To-Go Window.

Limited Stacks service will be available Monday-Friday by appointment. Library occupancy is limited to eight patrons at a time for a 30 minute appointment. Call the library to schedule a Limited Stacks entrance appointment; the library can usually accommodate patrons the same day they call. Library materials, public computers, and business services are available with a Limited Stacks appointment (30 minutes).
Patrons age 2 and up are required to wear an appropriate nose and mouth cover mask inside the library. If patrons cannot or will not wear an appropriate nose and mouth covering mask, the library staff will be happy to assist them at the Library To-Go Window.
Returned books must be quarantined for three days, returned DVDs and audio books must be quarantined for five days. The library asks that patrons be patient while waiting for their library reserves to become available.
Per the S.W. Smith Memorial Public Library Unattended Child Policy, children under 10 years old are welcome in the library if accompanied by an adult (age 18+). Children’s Area toys and games are temporarily unavailable, but the books, DVDs, and children’s computers are available.
The S.W. Smith Memorial Public Library is a non-partisan state-aided non-profit. The library must follow all PA Department of Health, PA Department of Education, and Office of Commonwealth Library public health and safety mandates and guidelines.
