A Bradford man is in McKean County Jail on allegations that he assaulted a male and threatened two people with a knife.
Scott M. Griffiths, 51, of 38 Jefferson St., was arraigned Monday before District Judge Dominic Cercone on charges of strangulation, a second-degree felony; two counts of terroristic threats, first-degree misdemeanors; and two counts of simple assault, second-degree misdemeanors.
According to the criminal complaint, at 3:30 a.m. Monday, a male came home from work to the residence he shares with his grandmother and his grandmother’s boyfriend — Griffiths. The male was unable to sleep because Griffiths was playing his music too loud.
At 10 a.m., Griffiths woke the male up saying, “it’s 10am wake up,” the complaint stated.
During the argument that followed, Griffiths was trying to grab the male’s arm while he was sitting in a chair, and the male told him multiple times not to touch him, court records indicated.
The male got up to tell his grandmother what was happening, and Griffiths grabbed the male by the throat with one hand, choking him, according to the complaint. The male pushed Griffiths’s hand off and left, going to a female’s house.
The male returned to 38 Jefferson St. with the female, and while they were there Griffiths allegedly came downstairs with a switchblade in his hand and was yelling at them, saying the male was talking about him. Griffiths said he was going to kill both of them, and he told the male that if he called the cops he would “bury him 6 feet deep,” the complaint stated.
Griffiths is incarcerated in lieu of $10,000 bail, and a preliminary hearing is set for Sept. 9.
