Students headed back to school will be greeted with warm and humid weather today, with what Barry Lambert, meteorologist for the National Weather Service in State College called “a good amount of sunshine.”
Lambert said the area will be partly cloudy today, with a high in the low 80s and light winds coming in from the west. Children may want to bring an umbrella to school with them though, because there is a chance of isolated showers and thunderstorms around the time they come home from school in the afternoon.
As for the rest of the week, Lambert said a cold front will be coming through the area on Tuesday, which may bring an isolated shower or thunderstorm in the mid to late morning hours. Due to the cold front, both Tuesday and Wednesday will be a bit cooler in the mid to upper 70s, with Wednesday becoming considerably less humid.
There will be a chance of showers and thunderstorms on Thursday and Friday, though Lambert noted it will “not be anything long lasting or heavy.”
