SMETHPORT — Bob Veilleux has been named to fill the economic development liaison position.
Veilleux is a lifelong resident of McKean County who has served in numerous economic and community development roles throughout his career.
He earned a bachelor’s degree in history/political science from the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford and earned his masters degree in community and economic development from Penn State University.
He is actively involved in various community and economic development committees and organizations throughout the region and will represent the county on additional boards and committees in his new role.
As the economic development liaison, Veilleux will be helping entrepreneurs and businesses connect with available resources to help grow the economy and retain jobs. Veilleux has significant experience in strategic planning, grant writing, grant administration, and project management. He is also very familiar with road, water, sewer, stormwater and other infrastructure issues facing our regional municipalities. Initially his areas of focus will be assisting businesses and industries in the region and the expansion of broadband services.
Veilleux started his duties on Aug. 17 and his office is located in the McKean County Poor Farm Historic and Conservation Area Complex located at 17137 Route 6 in Smethport.
