The Bradford Area Chamber of Commerce is planning to hold its annual auction and Oktoberfest on Sept. 24, with several changes in place to ensure the safety of all participants.
The event is being held at Pennhills Club, and will be earlier than usual this year to allow the doors to be open, providing fresh air and outdoor space.
A tent will be set up in the patio area to provide even more space.
Participants will choose a wrist band color which displays their desire for closeness to other people. Masks will be worn, and #BradfordStrong masks will be available for sale.
The number of tickets will be limited to support safety and social distancing. And a virtual option is available so everyone feels included. People can pay $10 dollars and get access to participate via Zoom.
“During this unprecedented time, when many organizations are facing financial uncertainty, we are thankful for you, the sponsors, the donors, the volunteers and everyone in our community who supports the chamber,” stated Heidi Scrivo Passmore, executive director. “We have added the option of a ‘Unique Experience’ as a donation this year. This is not necessarily something financial but an experience you can offer to participants.”
Chamber Board President Susan Hughes said, “We are excited to be having the event this year, but we also want participants to know that we are focusing on the safety of our community at the same time.”
The Chamber is seeking donations and sponsors. Passmore stated, “Every donation for our auction is important to us, large or small. We appreciate any support you can provide.”
Anyone interested in making a donation or being a sponsor should email Passmore at exedir@bradfordchamber.com or call the Chamber office at 368-7115.
Tickets are also for sale for the event: 1 ticket for $30 or 2 for $50. The theme for this year’s event will focus on Autumn.
The chamber did not have the 2020 Annual Meeting/Awards Dinner due to the pandemic. Therefore, a report to the membership will be provided at the beginning of the August Board of Directors meeting: Aug. 26, 8:30 a.m.
Anyone who would like to participate via zoom should reach out to the chamber via phone or email. We will recognize this year’s award winners along with the 2021 winners. This year’s winners included: Steve Hardin: Legacy Award; Tim and Kristin Asinger: Community & Spirit Award, Futures Rehabilitation Center: Exemplary Business and the Director’s Award to Kids & Cancer.
