An Emporium man is facing sexual assault charges for allegations from May 17 at a camp in Elk County.
According to Emporium-based state police, Thomas A. Krivonyak, 59, of Emporium, is in Elk County Jail in lieu of $100,000 bail on the allegations.
Krivonyak is charged with involuntary deviate sexual intercourse — forcible compulsion and IDSI — threat forcible compulsion, first-degree felonies; sexual assault, aggravated indecent assault without consent, aggravated indecent assault — forcible compulsion and aggravated indecent assault — threat of forcible compulsion, second-degree felonies; indecent assault-forcible compulsion, indecent assault — threat of forcible compulsion and two counts of terroristic threats, first-degree felonies; indecent assault without consent, recklessly endangering another person and two counts of simple assault, second-degree misdemeanors; and summary harassment.
Police said that around 6 p.m. May 17, Krivonyak offered to take a 42-year-old woman and her 2-year-old daughter for a ride. He is an acquaintance of the woman’s father.
According to police, they traveled to a camp on Straight Creek Road in Jones Township, where the alleged assault took place.
Krivonyak allegedly threatened to rape and kill both the woman and the child, and a struggle ensued between the Krivonyak and the woman. The woman suffered multiple injuries in the physical assault, and her shirt was ripped off; it was then that Krivonyak sexually assaulted her, police stated.
A preliminary hearing is set for noon on Aug. 19.
