Aggravated assault charges against a Bradford man accused of stabbing a woman, causing serious injuries, were bound to McKean County Court.
Christopher D. Link, 30, appeared for a preliminary hearing Wednesday before District Judge Dominic Cercone.
Court records state that Link assaulted a woman on two separate occasions, stabbing her twice in the upper torso on the second occasion and causing serious injuries. She was in critical condition at the time of his arrest.
For an alleged assault on July 25, Link is charged with aggravated assault — extreme indifference to human life, a first-degree felony; aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, a second-degree felony; possessing an instrument of crime, a first-degree misdemeanor; simple assault, simple assault with a deadly weapon and recklessly endangering another person, second-degree misdemeanors.
For the second alleged assault, which happened July 28, Link is facing charges of aggravated assault — extreme indifference to human life, a first-degree felony; aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, a second-degree felony; possessing an instrument of crime, a first-degree misdemeanor; simple assault with a deadly weapon and recklessly endangering another person, second-degree misdemeanors.
Link was initially jailed on $80,000 bail after his arrest on July 31, but on Wednesday he was denied bail based on a decision by Cercone, court records indicate.
According to the criminal complaint, on July 25, Link struck a female victim numerous times in the head, face and body, causing serious injury. She had injuries to her right eye socket, left ear, jaw, left rib cage and a laceration on her left wrist from Link cutting her with a knife. The female went to Bradford Regional Medical Center for treatment, but did not report the assault to police, the complaint stated.
Just before 9 a.m. on July 28, police were called to an alleged domestic dispute at the pair’s apartment. Police said the pair argued, and the female, afraid of being assaulted again, pulled out a pocket knife with a three-inch blade to protect herself, the criminal complaint stated.
Link grabbed the knife from her hand, cutting his hand in the process. He then took the knife, screamed at the woman that he was stabbed, and then charged at her, stabbing her twice in the upper right torso, high in the rib cage, the criminal complaint alleged.
She ran from the building, and, once she was located, she was taken by ambulance to BRMC, and then immediately flown out to UPMC Hamot in Erie where she was listed in critical condition, the complaint stated.
Link is being represented by the McKean County Public Defender’s Office.
