A Cyclone man accused in two criminal cases was one of several people to have preliminary hearings scheduled for Monday in McKean County.
Brian E. Conner Jr., 30, of Cyclone, waived a preliminary hearing for one case and had the second case bound to McKean County Court at a hearing before District Judge William Todd.
Bound to court were charges of aggravated assault under circumstances manifesting extreme indifference to the value of human life, a first-degree felony; aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, a second-degree felony; two counts of simple assault, first-degree misdemeanors; recklessly endangering another person, a second-degree misdemeanor; and summary harassment.
Conner waived a hearing for a charge of DUI-controlled substance and summary charges, court records stated.
According to the criminal complaint, on July 19, Conner struck a woman in the face with a handgun and pushed her to the ground by the throat, causing her to have breathing issues, the complaint stated. Police reported that the woman had redness, swelling and blood on the right side of her face, and there was a small laceration above her right eye.
She was transported by ambulance to Bradford Regional Medical Center for treatment of her injuries, according to court records.
Conner is free, having posted $75,000 bail in one case and being granted unsecured bail in the other.
Also on Monday, Frederick W. Cochran Jr., 67, of Port Allegany, waived a preliminary hearing for charges of terroristic threats, a first-degree misdemeanor; simple assault, a second-degree misdemeanor; and summary harassment and criminal mischief.
According to the criminal complaint, on July 28, a female told Cochran she was going to call the police on him, and he threatened her. Later that day, Cochran allegedly shoved her into a door, causing a bump on her head and damaging the door; her elbow was also hurt in the altercation.
Cochran is in McKean County Jail in lieu of $25,000 bail.
Samantha L. Harp, 25, of Eldred, had four counts of endangering the welfare of children against her dismissed, but nine other counts bound to court at a hearing before District Judge William Todd.
The charges bound to court are simple assault and five counts of recklessly endangering another person, second-degree misdemeanors; criminal mischief and disorderly conduct, third-degree misdemeanors; and summary harassment.
According to the criminal complaint, on June 27 Harp stabbed a man in the hand with a “sharp pointed object,” causing minor injury, and struck him several times in the head.
The man asked Harp to leave and locked her out of the house. While she was locked out, she allegedly used an outside chair to break a rear window in the home. She also was yelling inside and outside the home, creating a disturbance in the residential neighborhood, court records indicated.
Harp is free on $20,000 unsecured bail.
Craig L. Switzer Jr., 46, of Eldred, had all felony and misdemeanor charges against him in an assault case withdrawn.
Switzer pleaded guilty to one charge of summary harassment for allegations from July 12 in Ceres Township.
The allegations stemmed from an alleged domestic dispute that reportedly prompted two females to lock themselves in a room and call 911.
