The Bradford Area Alliance has announced the reopening of the “Harvey L. Golubock Bradford Business Competition — the Spark to Fuel Your Business.”
The competition was previously postponed due to the COVID-19 outbreak.
This brand new competition will award $20,000 in prize money and include in-kind services to the winner. The competition is open to anyone who would like to open a new business in the Bradford region. It is also open to any existing business that is interested in expanding into a new venture. The Bradford region includes the City of Bradford, as well as Bradford, Corydon, Foster, and Lafayette townships.
Interested parties must work with the Clarion Small Business Development Center (SBDC) to develop a business plan that must be submitted by Sept. 1, and participate in a Sept. 17 pitch event (similar to the television show “Shark Tank”) being hosted online where the winner will be announced.
The Blaisdell Foundation and Halloran Philanthropies are collectively sponsoring this year’s business competition.
Brian Fernandes-Halloran said, “Harvey Golubock and my father, Harry Halloran, had the opportunity to work together so that American Refining Group (ARG) could grow into the successful corporation it is today. Halloran Philanthropies was founded on the belief that the spark of creative and ambitious minds is one of the most powerful drivers for positive social change. We look forward to the success of this new endeavor fueled by fresh ideas for local business and we are excited to see its positive impact on the Bradford area.”
With plans for future competitions and awards, the “Harvey L. Golubock Bradford Business Competition Fund” has been established at the McKean County Community Foundation (MCCF) as a result of another philanthropic individual who wanted to anonymously honor Golubock. The Community Foundation is accepting donations to continue growing the fund. Additional information regarding this new fund can be obtained by calling the MCCF at 844-238-2289.
