One additional case of COVID-19 was reported in Cameron County over the weekend.
This brings the total to 7 in Cameron County, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Health. All 7 are confirmed cases, as opposed to probable cases.
The case count in other local counties held steady over the weekend, with Elk at 48, McKean at 34 and Potter at 20.
No new COVID-19-related deaths were announced in the local area.
According to the Department of Health’s new COVID-19 Early Warning Monitoring System Dashboard, McKean County reported 5 more cases last week (from July 31-Aug. 6) than it had the previous week (from July 24-30). Cameron and Elk counties each reported a case count last week that was one greater than the week prior.
Potter County hasn’t reported a new case since July 12.
Statewide, the number of new cases dropped to 5,016 last from 6,268 new cases the week prior.
There were no COVID-19 related hospitalizations reported in Elk, McKean or Potter counties during that two-week period. Hospitalization data is not applicable to Cameron County.
Pennsylvania overall reported a decrease in daily hospitalizations but a slight increase in ventilator use between last week and the week prior. Average daily COVID-19 specific hospitalizations dropped from 694.4 to 619.3. The average number of patients on ventilators increased from 96.7 to 97.3.
The Department of Health reported 813 new cases on Saturday and 760 on Sunday throughout Pennsylvania, bringing the total to 118,852. There were 17 new deaths reported over the weekend, for a total of 7,314.
