Sinnemahoning State Park has programs set for this weekend: a hands-on stream study and an elk presentation, both Saturday, and an introductory archery program on Sunday.
The Stream Study will be held from 2:30 to 3:15 p.m. on Saturday, exploring the habitat of a freshwater stream and teaching participants about the animals that live there. Nets and containers will be provided. All ages are welcome. Parents will need to assist younger children. The program is limited to 20 people or 4 families. Participants are asked to wear water shoes and dress for the water and also to bring a face mask. Meet at 40 Maples Day Use Area.
Elk in the First Fork Valley will be held at the Campground Amphitheater from 7:30 to 9 p.m. on Saturday. Participants can learn the history of elk in Pennsylvania from the early beginnings of the commonwealth to the modern day. The campground talk will be followed by a 33-minute video. Participants are asked to bring a face mask.
Finally, a Discover Archery program will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. Sunday. This introductory course led by a certified USA Archery instructor will focus on Genesis compound bows and be a great learning opportunity for ages 11 to adult. Youth must be accompanied by an adult. Pre-registration is required; the program is limited to 10 people. Bring a face mask. The program will be cancelled if it rains. Participants should meet at the Wildlife Center.
