Things are looking a little different this year for the United Way of the Bradford Area Inc.’s annual pig roast event.
With the COVID-19 pandemic causing essential changes to be made, the annual Pig Roast and Clam Bake, which is usually held at the Bradford Lions Club, has been shifted into a drive-thru meal pick-up event with the intention of resuming back to the traditional event in 2021.
The drive-thru event is slated to occur on Sept. 3 at Beacon Light Behavioral Health Systems at 800 East Main St., Bradford, beginning at 4:30 p.m. and ending at 7 p.m. or until sold out.
The drive-thru dinners will be prepared following CDC guidelines by The Westline Inn and are available for a cost of $15. The meal includes: Pulled pork sandwich, homemade cole slaw, pasta salad and baked beans, a dessert and an entry to win one of our several raffle items.
Meals are limited and it is highly encouraged to order in advance with tickets being available by calling 814-368-6181, emailing admin@uwbanews.org or stopping into the United Way office, mask required.
Executive Director Sarah Lonzi said, “While the pandemic has forced us to make changes to our events and campaign this year, we have seen, as a community, that we are able to bind together more now than ever and support local businesses and organizations, including those who have generously sponsored this event.”
Proceeds from this event will support the United Way of the Bradford Area Inc. The United Way, originally known as the Community Chest, is in its 95th year of existence in the Bradford community and has since expanded to provide services to the neighboring communities of Smethport and Port Allegany. Thanks to the individuals of the communities served, the United Way is able to offer funding to over 40 programs that help all spectrums of age and need.
