CLARENDON — Chapman State Park announced the following programs that are coming up Aug. 7-9: introduction to geocaching, nature scavenger hunts and a chapel service.
Introduction to geocaching will be held from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. Aug. 7 with the park naturalist. Participants should bring a handheld GPS unit or have a geocaching app already downloaded onto a phone. After the introduction, participants will be given coordinates to the newest GPS scavenger hunt.
Registration is required for the geocaching event by Aug. 7. Contact Jen Moore at 814-723-0259 or jennmoore@pa.gov to register.
Two nature scavenger hunts will be held on Aug. 8: one from 11 a.m. to noon, and the other from 1 to 2 p.m. Participants should bring a camera. Lists will be provided, and they will see how many natural items they can find. Once they complete the list, participants will head to the camp host site to collect a prize.
Attendance is limited to 25 people for the geocaching event and the nature scavenger hunts.
A non-denominal chapel service will be held at 10 a.m. Aug. 9 in the amphitheater. The service will move to Pavilion 4 in the event of rain.
All programs are free and open to the public. No registration is required for the scavenger hunts or chapel service, with participation open on a first come, first served basis.
Participants are asked to occupy designated areas to meet social distancing guidelines. Face masks are required to be worn at all programs.
