A Bradford woman accused of waving a knife at Children and Youth Services employees will face three additional charges.

Crystal D. Knell, 37, of Bradford, faces two new counts of aggravated assault, second-degree felonies, and one count of interference with the custody of a committed person, a second-degree misdemeanor, in addition to the ones filed at the time of her arrest. Charges filed at that time were two counts each of terroristic threats, first-degree misdemeanors; and simple assault, second-degree misdemeanors; and one count each of interference with the custody of committed persons, a second-degree misdemeanor; and harassment, a summary offense.

The charges were bound to McKean County Court at a preliminary hearing Wednesday before District Judge Dominic Cercone.

According to the criminal complaint, on July 9, while CYS caseworkers were at Knell’s home, she became “distraught and combative” and grabbed a caseworker, shoving her backward.

Knell then grabbed a large kitchen knife and “began waving it at the caseworkers before charging at them and holding the knife up to the neck of one of the caseworkers,” the complaint stated.

Also appearing for a preliminary hearing Wednesday was Melinda Schoonover, 34, of Bradford, had the following charges against her bound to court at a hearing before District Judge William Todd: three counts of identity theft, a second-degree felony and two third-degree felonies; two counts each of access device fraud, theft by deception, receiving stolen property and theft by unlawful taking, first-degree misdemeanors; one count of access device fraud, a second-degree misdemeanor; and theft by deception, receiving stolen property and theft by unlawful taking, third-degree misdemeanors.

The case docket indicates the allegations happened Oct. 7 in Port Allegany, but no further information about what happened was available at press time.

Schoonover is facing similar charges in a case that was filed in May. The criminal complaint in the previous case alleges that Schoonover made purchases totaling $3,932.66 using the financial information of a woman for whom she was a caretaker. Then, she called the state police barracks three times impersonating the victim, trying to avoid having charges pressed against her. Schoonover is scheduled to appear in McKean County Court on Aug. 6.

Schoonover posted $5,000 bail in the new case.

Sean M. Walker, 33, of Bradford, waived a preliminary hearing before District Judge Richard Luther for charges of criminal trespassing, a third-degree felony; disorderly conduct, a third-degree misdemeanor; and summary public drunkenness. According to the criminal complaint, on June 27, a tenant who did not know Walker found him on the hallway stairs inside an apartment building talking to himself and moaning. A short time later, he opened the tenant’s apartment door, let himself in and sat on her couch. Walker, who was visibly intoxicated, refused to go when she told him to leave. Walker is free on $25,000 unsecured bail.

Bailey A. Duell, 19, of Bradford, had the following charges against him bound to court at a hearing before District Judge Dominic Cercone: criminal trespassing, a second-degree felony, and criminal mischief, a third-degree misdemeanor. According to the criminal complaint, According to the criminal complaints, on June 29, Duell and Erica Herbstritt were seen by neighbors kicking in the back door of a residence on Pleasant Street in Bradford. When confronted, they claimed they had permission to be there; they did not. Duell is free on unsecured bail.

Tony J. McCormick, 32, of Bradford, had the following charges against him bound to McKean County Court at a hearing before District Judge Richard Luther: terroristic threats, a first-degree misdemeanor, and four counts of harassment, third-degree misdemeanors. On July 6, McCormick told a male over the phone that he was going to come to the male’s house and kill him in front of his family, the complaint stated. McCormick is free, having posted $10,000 bail.

James K. Sisler, 46, of Bradford, had two misdemeanor counts of terroristic threats against him withdrawn. He pleaded guilty to a summary count of harassment for allegations on March 7 and 15 in Bradford City.
