More than 800 new COVID-19 cases were reported by the state Department of Health Monday, bringing the statewide total to 108,264.
Locally, the case counts stayed stable for the second reporting period in a row. Elk County remains at 39, McKean at 26, Potter at 20 and Cameron at 5.
The numbers in Pennsylvania’s largest cities continue to rise, with Allegheny County — where Pittsburgh is located — reporting an increase of 180 cases and Philadelphia County reporting an increase of 166 cases.
Rising case counts have been seen in the 19-24 age group, the health department reported. The northwestern part of the state went from 7% of the cases falling in that age group in April to 13% so far in July. The southwest and southeast parts of the state have seen that percentage rise as well, from 5% in April to 19% in July. The northeast region has seen a jump as well, from 6% in April to nearly 17% so far in July.

There have been 7,122 total deaths attributed to COVID-19, an increase of 4 new deaths reported.
