A Bradford man was found guilty Monday in McKean County Court of all but one charge in an assault case against him.
Michael C. Schoonover, 34, was convicted of charges of resisting arrest, simple assault on an officer and disorderly conduct, according to District Attorney Stephanie Vettenburg-Shaffer. He was acquitted of a charge of aggravated assault.
“Today was the first jury trial in McKean County since COVID-19 safety protocols have been in place,” noted Shaffer on Monday.
Regarding the case, she explained, “The charges stem from an incident that occurred at the Chestnut Street Uni-mart on March 13, 2019.
Officers with Bradford City Police responded to a report of a disturbance and, when attempting to take the defendant into custody, he resisted arrest.”
She said Officer Clayton Yohe filed the charges, and officers Kolin Strawcutter and Seth Shephard assisted with the arrest. Shaffer prosecuted the case on behalf of the commonwealth.
No sentencing date had been scheduled on Monday evening.
