MOUNT JEWETT — Outdoor programs have been set at Kinzua Bridge State Park for August.
All participants must wear a mask and practice social distancing to participate.
Saturday morning birdwatching will be held, beginning at 7:15 a.m. each Saturday, weather dependent. Participants will take a relaxing walk and see the diverse species of birds that are in the park.
Bring your own binoculars. The group is limited to five participants; you must call to reserve a spot at (814) 778-5467.
A nature walk will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturdays. The one-mile walk will be on the easy-to-moderate General Kane Trail. There is a limit of 6 participants, so you must call to register. Participants should dress according to the weather.
The park staff will also host a Perseids meteor shower viewing, at 4 a.m. Aug. 12.
Coming from the constellation Perseus, a show of falling stars should be visible. Join us Wednesday morning as this meteor shower lights up our sky over the Kinzua Bridge. Bring a flashlight with a red lens and a folding chair or blanket to take out on the Bridge.
You must register for this event by calling the park office at (814) 778-5467. This program has a limit of 8 participants on a first come, first served basis. Meet out on the Bridge.
This program will be cancelled in the event of inclement weather or cloud cover.
