Homeowners and renters experiencing financial struggles from pandemic economic impact may be eligible for mortgage and rent relief.
Homeowners who qualify can receive assistance up to $1,000 per month for a maximum period of 6 months covering mortgage payments owed from March 2020 through December 2020. Renters who qualify can receive assistance up to $750 per month for a maximum of 6 months covering rent payments owed from March 2020 through November 2020. Payments will be made directly to the mortgagee/lender and to the landlord for those homeowners and renters who qualify.
The application is available online at https://pmap.phfa.org/
Generally, to be eligible, a person must have been unemployed since March 1 or experienced at least a 30% reduction in income directly related to COVID-19 and meet the salary threshold based on the number of people in the family. The mortgage must be at least 30 days delinquent between March and December of 2020.
The rent relief program requires application documents — available at https://www.phfa.org/pacares/rent.aspx — including a renter application, landlord application and landlord-property certification. General eligibility includes unemployment or at least 30% reduction in household income due to COVID-19; rent at least 30 days past due between March and December 2020; and annual household income cannot exceed the area median income for the county.
