CALI: Bradford resident Donald Neal stopped by recently, providing us with some new poetry to share.
My Name is Cali
I am just a little puppy dog,
I came from very far away.
I came to help this old man,
And here I am going to stay.
You see I love this old man,
He gives me love and a place to live.
Of course he gets mad at me sometimes.
But those times I soon forgive.
He buys me treats and tosses the ball,
In the backyard when I want to play.
I keep him busy just taking care of me,
But he wouldn’t want it any other way.
He needs me and I need him,
That’s why we get along so good.
We are just loving friends,
This must be understood.
When you have someone who cares for you,
And loves you although a pest you can be.
And lets you lay in their lap and sleep,
That is love that you can see.
So I will go on just being myself,
And be happy this old man is my friend.
And show my love with a wagging tail and kisses.
This kind of love will never end.
I am a little Jack Russell Terrier,
They say I am hyper but that just isn’t true.
Stop by and I will show you how good I can be,
But that is just between me and you.
I’ll keep watching for you when I am on the porch,
I’ll be in my wicker, red cushioned rocking chair.
I promise to be a good little girl.
The best you can find anywhere.
Just look for a little girl called Cali,
Who came to help out this old man.
I may be little but I will bring happiness,
And I’ll do the best I can.
