McKean County residents will be able to dispose of electric and hazardous household waste at an event from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Aug. 22 in Duke Center.
The collection will be held at Otto-Eldred Jr./Sr. High School, 143 R L Sweitzer Drive, Duke Center. The event is open to McKean County residents only.

Acceptable electronics include computers, televisions, printers, microwaves, stereos, copiers, fax machines, cell phones, DVD players, gaming systems, etc.
Acceptable household hazardous waste includes household cleaning products, oil/latex based paint, wood/metal cleaners and polish, stain/finishes, batteries, light bulbs, fuel additives, pool chemicals, antifreeze, aerosols, herbicides, pesticides, motor oil (must be in a closed container), bug sprays, etc.
Cost per item is:
• household hazardous waste, $1/pound
• all tube/CRT TVs & monitors, $0.60/pound
• all non-CRT devices & electronics, $0.40/pound
• universal waste (batteries, bulbs), $0.75/pound
• small freon containing devices, $0.65/pound
• paint (oil and latex), $0.63/pound
• propane tanks, $4/each
A full gallon of paint weighs approximately 8 pounds.
