Papa Scoops is the newest ice cream shop in Bradford and is set up at 58 W. Washington Street. Hours for the business are 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.
Tony Giordano, who has worked for many years managing and operating restaurants and ice cream stores, is the owner of Papa Scoops. He plans to operate the business year-round, possibly adjusting the hours during the winter months.
“It’s very exciting, I’m thrilled to be opening in the City of Bradford, and to bring a business into that end of town. I think it will be beneficial to everyone involved,” Giordano said.
The business provides ice cream and a variety of food options, fulfilling a need in the area since a chain ice cream store nearby shut down a few years ago.
Giordano plans to have traditional items like hamburgers and hot dogs, along with a rotating menu based on the season. The summer menu will offer certain items appropriate for the warmer days, such as chicken salad, while the winter menu will include chicken and biscuits or chili, options to warm up during the colder months.
Papa Scoops is also offering 45 flavors of Perry’s Ice Cream, including sugar free and lactose free options.
“It is so exciting to see a new business open, especially something that families can safely enjoy. Tony has an obvious passion for this business which will contribute to his success,” said Heidi Scrivo Passmore, executive director of the Bradford Area Chamber of Commerce.
This site was home to Yum Yum’s, an ice cream and fast food establishment, for a number of years.
