COUDERSPORT — A Genesee man is facing allegations that he failed to comply with sex offender requirements under Megan’s Law.
According to Coudersport-based state police, Timothy Matteson, 61, arrived at 3:54 p.m. Sunday to complete a Megan’s Law update. However, police determined that Matteson did not comply with requirements.
Police did not say what requirement(s) he is accused of failing to follow.
Matteson is charged with one count of failure to comply with registration of sexual offenders requirements, a second-degree felony. He was arrested, arraigned and committed to Potter County Jail in lieu of $20,000 bail.
A preliminary hearing is set for July 10.
The Pennsylvania State Police Megan’s Law website indicates that Matteson must register because he was convicted in 2017 of a charge of indecent assault of a person less than 13 years of age.
As a Tier 3 offender, Matteson must register for his lifetime.
