WILDLIFE ON WIFI: The Game Commission is extending the Wildlife on WiFi virtual learning campaign and offering new field-based virtual education opportunities. While schools are out for the summer, the need for virtual learning resources remains and the Game Commission is committed to connecting Pennsylvania residents to wildlife no matter where they are!
In addition to the campaign’s extension, Wildlife on WiFi (WoW) resources will now also be available to adult groups in higher risk health communities and new virtual education events will be offered to the general public.
One such event is “From the Field”, which will enable audience members to engage with a Game Commission biologist live while watching pre-recorded wildlife science surveys and other conservation management practices.
WoW connects Pennsylvania residents to wildlife across three pillars, each with engagement opportunities tailored for different age levels and audiences.
The Wildlife on WiFi virtual learning hub offers nearly 50 home-based lessons and activities, storybook readings, conservation videos, and livestream wildlife webcams. The hub is updated regularly with new content.
Regular social activities are posted on the Game Commission’s Facebook page. These include popular “Wildlife Challenges” and other fun, educational content. Virtual field trips are held, as well as general audience virtual events such as “From the Field”.

CARBON DIOXIDE RISING: Information from NASA indicates the rise of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere continues unabated. Scientists report that — in May — measurements of atmospheric carbon dioxide (CO2) at Hawaii’s Mauna Loa Observatory were the highest monthly reading ever recorded. Meanwhile, a new study concludes that today’s CO2 levels are higher than they have been for the past 23 million years.
