LEWIS RUN — Lewis Run-based state police reported on Tuesday that the death of a person discovered at the scene of a Keating Township fire is under investigation.

Police explained that state police fire marshal Trooper Russell Stewart responded to a Bordell Road fire at the request of the fire chief, then the barracks was notified of a deceased body that was found inside the home.

According to police, the nature of the death is undermined and the case is currently under investigation.

Police did not say if any suspicious circumstances exist.

A press release issued by police identified the deceased person as Kenneth McCrobie, 59, of Smethport. Four dogs were also found dead in the 1276 Bordell Road home.

Investigators determined that the fire started inside the home, but the cause is still under investigation.
