An Austin man was accused of manufacturing methamphetamine following a traffic stop earlier this month.
At 8:12 p.m. June 16, two state troopers pulled over Clint Fowler, 42, in Keating Township, Potter County, according to Coudersport-based state police. The troopers were conducting routine traffic enforcement in the area of Cowley Hill Road when they encountered Fowler.
The troopers determined that Fowler was driving under the influence, and he possessed a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia, police reported.
Law enforcement officials then searched Fowler’s home and found precursors of a meth lab operation, along with several items of drug paraphernalia, according to police.
Fowler is charged with possessing phenylpropanolamine, etc., or a precursor substance with intent to manufacture and two counts of possession with the intent to manufacture or deliver a controlled substance, felonies; operating a meth lab, a second-degree felony; deposits, stores, disposes chemical waste, a third-degree felony; recklessly endangering another person, a second-degree misdemeanor; DUI-controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia, misdemeanors; and the following summary charges: driving an unregistered vehicle, careless driving, reckless driving and no rear lights.
He was committed to Potter County Jail in lieu of $75,000 bail.
A preliminary hearing is set for June 29.
Fowler has two additional criminal cases pending in Potter County, court records indicate.
He is charged in one case with misdemeanor counts of DUI-controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance, possession of a small amount of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia, along with multiple traffic summaries. In the second case, he is charged with hinder apprehension/prosecution-harbor or conceal and hinder apprehension/prosecution-provide aid, second-degree misdemeanors.
It was unclear at press time where these two cases stand.
