A Curwensville man will face charges in McKean County Court from an alleged police chase in January in Bradford.
Jonathan Michael Sadlowski, 30, is charged with two third-degree felony counts of DUI, a third-degree felony count of fleeing or eluding police, and several summary offenses regarding reckless driving and speeding.
According to the criminal complaint, at 5:12 p.m. on Jan. 12, Bradford City Police Officer Joshua Frederoski was in a marked police car monitoring for speeders on U.S. Route 219 south at the Kendall Street onramp when a gray Volkswagen Passat, driven by Sadlowski, went by at 102.7 mph. The officer began pursuit, passing four separate motorists on the highway at speeds over 120 mph.
Several additional officers joined the pursuit. Sadlowski’s car was eventually stopped by two officers with the city police. He was taken into custody on suspicion of DUI. When officers ran his criminal history, they learned he had three prior DUI convictions, the complaint stated.
When asked why he was driving so fast, he responded that “he had just bought the vehicle and was testing it out,” the complaint stated.
In his car, police found open beer and a bottle containing prescription Modafinil, a medication to treat sleepiness, with the prescribing information removed from the bottle, the complaint indicated.
Sadlowski waived a hearing Wednesday before District Judge Dom Cercone and remains free on unsecured bail.
