The Bradford Area School District is looking for parent feedback on both the online learning that wrapped up the 2019-20 school year and potential plans for the 2020-21 school year.
A paper copy of the survey was sent out with each student’s report card and should be arriving in the mail in the coming days, if it hasn’t already.
The survey can also be accessed by visiting the school district’s web page or the Facebook pages of George G. Blaisdell Elementary, School Street Elementary and Floyd C. Fretz Middle School.
The statement on the letter includes the following:
“While public safety continues to be our number one concern, we are eager to welcome our students back. We know that it is better to have students physically in school – academically, physically, and social-emotionally. Unfortunately, we also know that information regarding COVID-19 is constantly changing and being updated. Keeping the dynamic nature of the COVID-19 pandemic in mind and recognizing plans may change at any time, our district is developing a Health and Safety Plan based on the most recent data and guidelines released by Pennsylvania Department of Education, the Governor’s Office, and Center for Disease Control. In order to build a Health and Safety Plan that represents the needs of our students and reflects the intentions of our parents, we need your feedback.”
Parents are being asked to fill out a survey for each child in the household, either online or by filling out the paper copy and dropping it in any of the locked boxes outside the district’s school buildings. Officials request that surveys be completed and returned by June 19.
Questions on the survey include parental confidence in sending students back to school in the fall, preferences for the way students will be educated (traditional face-to-face learning, online opportunities or a blended approach) and whether students would be available for “extended school days, night school and/or weekend instruction.”
The survey provides opportunities for parents to share concerns and their opinions of how online instruction during the COVID-19 closure could have been improved.
The message ends with a note of thanks for parents’ “continued support and grace. Although we are working through many unknowns for the reopening of our schools, your input is vital to helping us protect the health and well-being of our students, employees, and families.”
