Among the preliminary hearings scheduled this week in Bradford was one for a man accused in three criminal cases.
Shawn M. Mott, 29, of 127 Summer St., waived hearings for all three cases.
He is charged in one case with make repairs/sell/etc. an offensive weapon, a first-degree misdemeanor, and possession of drug paraphernalia, a misdemeanor; in a second case with three counts of possession of drug paraphernalia, misdemeanors, and summary disorderly conduct; and in the third case with criminal trespass, a second-degree felony.
According to the criminal complaint in the first case, on Feb. 21, Mott was arrested on a warrant from a different case. During his arrest, he was found to be in possession of a used syringe and an illegal bi-folding knife, the complaint read.
Then, on April 2, Mott was a passenger in a vehicle that was stopped for the alleged unauthorized use of a registration plate. Mott refused to give any information to the police. When an officer found a baggie of suspected methamphetamine in Mott’s pants pocket, he told police someone else must have worn the pants first, the criminal complaint alleged.
On May 14, Mott allegedly broke into an apartment on Kiwanis Court because he was under the influence of methamphetamine and believed his girlfriend was being held at gunpoint inside the apartment, according to the complaint.
Mott was released on $20,000 unsecured bail.
Meanwhile, Markel A. Stonebraker, 59, of 577 Bingham Road, Cyclone, had a case against him bound to McKean County Court at a preliminary hearing before District Judge Dominic Cercone.
Stonebraker is charged with accidents involving death or personal injury, a first-degree misdemeanor; and summary charges of failure to stop and give information/render aid, failure yield right of way to pedestrian and careless driving.
According to the criminal complaint, at 10:48 a.m. March 25, a motorist alerted a Bradford City police officer that there was a female lying on the ground at the intersection of Barbour and South Center streets, and it appeared that the female had been hit by a vehicle.
The female told the officer that she had been waiting for vehicles to pass at the crosswalk at the intersection, when the driver of a stopped vehicle — Stonebraker — waved her across. She began to cross, and “the same vehicle accelerated through the intersection and struck her,” the complaint stated.
She told the officer that she was thrown on the hood and windshield of the vehicle, then fell to the ground. According to the complaint, “The vehicle continued east on Barbour Street without stopping.”
The female suffered left leg and chest injuries, court records stated.
A witness followed Stonebraker’s vehicle to the CNB Bank on Main Street and obtained a photograph of the vehicle, including the make, model and license plate, according to the complaint. The vehicle was registered to Stonebraker. When police located Stonebraker later that day in the Pizza Hut parking lot, he confirmed that he was the only one who drove the vehicle that day.
Stonebraker was released on his own recognizance.
Nathan S. Lineman, 49, of 58 Cornen St., waived a preliminary hearing before Cercone for charges of strangulation, a second-degree felony, and simple assault, a second-degree misdemeanor.
According to court records, Bradford City Police responded to Lineman’s residence the morning of May 19 for reports of an active domestic incident. Lineman told police he was arguing with the female about moving out of the residence. Police allege that Lineman attempted to get a computer tablet from the woman, but when she wouldn’t give the tablet to him, he placed both hands around her throat, leaving her in fear for her life, the criminal complaint alleged.
Lineman is free on unsecured bail.
