A Port Allegany man is in McKean County Jail after he allegedly kept knocking on neighbors’ doors at all hours and offering one neighbor money to have sex with him.
Dana R. Caston, 58, of 311 E. Arnold Ave., Apt. 5, was arraigned Tuesday night before District Judge Richard Luther on four counts of stalking, first-degree misdemeanors; one count of prostitution, two counts of loitering and prowling at night time, and four counts each of disorderly conduct-unreasonable noise, disorderly conduct-hazardous or physically offensive condition and harassment, all third-degree misdemeanors; and eight summary counts of harassment and one summary count of public drunkenness.
According to the criminal complaint, on Saturday, Port Allegany Borough Police were dispatched to 311 E. Arnold Ave. to check on an intoxicated male — Caston — who had fallen several times. He was escorted to his apartment.
Investigation revealed that Caston had knocked on a neighbor’s door at 7:30 a.m. Saturday and offered her $100 to have sex with her, the complaint stated. She said no, told him to leave her alone and tried to close the door; however, Caston allegedly put his foot in the door so she could not close it. It took her several tries before she was able to close the door.
In fact, Caston had been outside the female’s door numerous times, knocking on her door trying to get her to answer, including one morning when he knocked six or seven times at 2:30 a.m., “mumbling and slurring his words,” the complaint stated. About 9 a.m., Caston went to the female’s door saying he was sorry and “he was not in his right mind” and was intoxicated. This allegedly happened about 16 times.
Police learned that during the two or three weeks prior, Caston had been knocking on other neighbors’ doors at all hours.
For one, an elderly female woke up at 1:30 a.m. one day to the sound of someone beating on her door; she refused to answer, according to court records. When she asked him what he wanted, “He said he was going to help her with her laundry and she told him to go home and he did.”
He went to a third female’s home at 2 a.m. one day, and he eventually left when she did not answer, according to the complaint. At 3 a.m. on Tuesday, Caston was pounding on this female’s door again, and she told him to leave. About 45 minutes later, he allegedly returned, banging and yelling.
Caston was committed to McKean County Jail in lieu of $20,000 bail, and a preliminary hearing is scheduled for Monday.
