SMETHPORT — An electronics collection will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. June 27 at the McKean County Fairgrounds, 7172 Route 46, Smethport.
Pre-registration is required. Register online at www.ecsr.net, visit the McKean County Conservation District’s Facebook page or call the district at (814) 887-4020.
Acceptable electronics include computers, televisions, printers, microwaves, stereos, copiers, fax machines, cell phones, DVD players, gaming systems, etc.
Acceptable household hazardous waste includes household cleaning products, oil/latex paint, wood/metal cleaners and polish, stains/finishes, batteries, light bulbs, fuel additives, pool chemicals, antifreeze, aerosols, herbicides, pesticides, motor oil (must be in closed container), bug sprays, etc.
The cost per item is: for household hazardous waste, $1/pound; all tube/CRT TVs and monitors, $0.60/pound; non-CRT devices and electronics, $0.40/pound; universal waste (batteries, bulbs), $0.75/pound; small freon containing devices, $0.65/pound; paint (oil and latex), $0.63/pound; and propane tanks, $4 each. A full gallon of paint weighs about 8 pounds.
