RIDGWAY — A Johnsonburg man is facing arson charges following a house fire on Sunday afternoon in Johnsonburg Borough.
According to Ridgway-based state police, at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, a fire occurred in a single-family home at 142 Harrison Ave. Upon investigation by the state police fire marshal and the Johnsonburg Fire Department, it was determined that the fire was incendiary in nature.
Benjamin Johnson, 25, of Johnsonburg, intentionally set fire to his own residence, according to police.
Johnson is charged with arson-danger of death or bodily injury, a first-degree felony; reckless burning or exploding, a third-degree felony; recklessly endangering another person and resisting arrest, second-degree misdemeanors.
Johnson is in Elk County Jail in lieu of $25,000 bail. A preliminary hearing is set for June 10.
Damage is estimated at $50,000, police stated.
